2020

The Executive Board of Directors is charged to guide the operation, financials, and future direction of the Council.  It is comprised of various community members all across the county who have a stake in the work of early childhood and outcomes of the Council. All are Board members are voted in by the current Board members.

BLAIR SKINNER

PRESIDENT

Blair is an early childhood mental health therapist and practices in Broomfield joined with her therapy dog, Gadget. Blair also has a 4 year old. Blair joined our Board in 2016.

Guyleen is an active member in the Broomfield community with government policy creation, decision making and leadership. Guyleen has been on our Board since 2018.

TREASURER

Deven is a father of two and a Broomfield resident. He has a passion for the arts and for early childhood wellbeing. He is an active member in our community with government policy experience. Deven joined our Board in 2018.

Emily is a mother of two under 5 and a Broomfield resident. Emily has been involved in early childhood programs and policy at a State level. She joined our Board in 2020.

KEVIN JACOBS

MEMBER AT LARGE

Kevin is a Broomfield resident and a father of three. His experience includes human resources, government policy and decision making. Kevin has been with our organization since 2016.

DEBBIE KUNZ

MEMBER AT LARGE

Debbie has extensive knowledge in early childhood education and leadership. She is the full time Director at Bal Swan Children's Center. Debbie joined our Board in 2017.

STACEY LANGER

MEMBER AT LARGE

Stacey is a mother and grandmother, so understands the importance of early childhood. Stacey represents the Child Care Resource and Referral agency for Broomfield County. Stacey joined our Board in 2020.

NANCY MCKEE

MEMBER AT LARGE

Nancy is a retired early childhood educator and an active Broomfield resident. Nancy helped to form the BECC and has been an active Board member since 2007.

ANITA RICH

MEMBER AT LARGE

Anita is a Broomfield resident and a grandmother of two. She is an ongoing active participant in child health policy at a State level. Anita joined our Board in 2020.

JESSICA JONES

DIRECTOR

Jessica has worked in Broomfield since 2006 and the official Director of BECC since 2014.  She has worked in community based programs from juvenile justice to senior recreation and nutrition. However, early childhood is where she feels the greatest impact to our community is. She thrives in collaborative partnerships and finding creative ways to accomplish difficult tasks. She has a bachelors in Communication from CU Boulder and an MBA from University of Northern Colorado.

Jessica used to live in France and speaks French. She has two athletic, amazing teenage children, two beautiful dogs and a loving, patient husband of 15 years.

MERCY MANRESA

FAMILY SUPPORT COORDINATOR

Mercy has been working with the BECC since 2013. Her focus is on supporting parents be the best they can for their children. She has performed parenting support groups for 6 years and is currently an Incredible Years instructor and will be taking on that role for the Council soon. She is also the Confident Parenting instructor and has done this for 4 years. 

 

Mercy is a Broomfield resident since 2003.  She and her husband are busy raising their three boys (15, 9 and 2).  She enjoys hiking and being outdoors with her family and is grateful for all the opportunity and encouragement she has had during the past 10 years. supporting local parents!

KATHY APJOKE

EQIT INSTRUCTOR

Kathy has been in the field of Early Childhood for more than 20 years. She is lead EQIT instructor and has been teaching this program for the last 7 years. She he has been Director of a large child care center for a municipality and is currently proprietor of a family child care. Her family child care has received 2 five star Colorado Shines rating. She has her CDA in Family Child Care.  I have Instructed and Coached the Expanding Quality for Infant Toddler care (EQIT) program in Broomfield 7 years. 

 

Kathy is 30 years married to her high school sweetheart and share 2 grown adult boys and 2 beautiful granddaughters.  She enjoys traveling and spending quality time with my family.

BROOKE BROGLE

CONTRACTOR:

PYRAMID PLUS INSTRUCTOR 

Brooke is a certified Pyramid Plus Trainer and was a preschool teacher for 10 years at Bal Swan Children’s Center, a Pyramid  Plus demonstration site.  She is co-author of the Backpack Series, a nationally available resource to partner families with teachers in promoting positive social emotional skills and reducing challenging behavior.  She is passionate about empowering young children and helping adults support children in becoming the best versions of themselves.

Brooke has been married for 24 years, has two daughters in college and has recently been certified as a foster parent.  She loves to try new recipes, travel to new places and hike or explore along the way.

SHELLEY JICHA

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COACH

Shelley has been in early childhood for over 28 years. She has multiple credentials and certificates including a ECE Coaching Certificate through C.U. at the Masters level. Shelley has been coaching in Broomfield for the last two years.

Shelley has been married for 31 years with four grown children; two married, one in college and one a senior in High School.

 

Shelley loves traveling to see friends and family and loves being near any kind of streams, lakes or the ocean.

AIMEE KENDRICK

EQIT INSTRUCTOR

Aimee is a 28 year old mother to two girls and married to her husband of 6 years. She is a first year teacher of EQIT and has been thriving in the role.

 

Aimee is very passionate about providing quality care to infants and toddlers and is excited to continue on this journey of supporting other childcare providers in performing high quality childcare.

LAURA PAULSON

DATA,EVALUATION & RESEARCH CONSULTANT

Laura has been working with the BECC as the data and evaluation consultant since 2017. The data she culls and analyzes is crucial to demonstrate the effectiveness of our programs. She is concise, articulate, and thorough in all analyzes. 

Laura has a Masters in Public Health Administration from Colorado School of Public Health. She has been married for 8 years and has a beautiful daughter.
